The Pirates of Penzance
A FUN SHOW FOR ALL THE FAMILY!
Lock up your valuables (and your daughters...), the pirates are coming! The award winning Cairns Choral Society returns to the stage with a modern version of Gilbert and Sullivan's classic work.
The Pirates of Penzance tells the story of Frederic who, having reached his 21st year, has concluded his long apprenticeship to a band of 'tender-hearted' pirates. Now a free man, he leaves for greener pastures and instantly falls in love with Mabel, one of the daughters of a British Army Major-General. All is well until a sudden twist of fate sees Frederic having to choose between love and his 'sense of duty' to his former pirate colleagues.
Full of colourful characters (The Pirate King and his loyal pirate band, the Major-General and his beautiful daughters and the bumbling policemen), Pirates will take you on a hilarious journey with wonderful music and action aplenty. Well loved numbers such as 'Poor wandering one', 'With cat like tread' and the much parodied 'I am the very model of a modern Major-General' will have you singing all the way back to shore.
